Sewage Map – An interactive map showing current sewage release incidents and the rivers they impact.

Swimfo, Environment Agency – An interactive map showing water quality assessments around the country and recommendations on whether to use the water or not.

River Ecological Health, The Rivers Trust – An interactive map showing the ecological status of rivers across England.

Organisations

Water UK – Water UK is a planning organisation and also the trade association for the water industry. Their website has lots of useful information and is regularly updated with plans and projects to improve water quality in certain areas.

Defra in the media – Defra (the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs) are the government department responsible for our water systems. On this page you will find many of their articles and media outputs talking about water and water quality.

Environment Agency – A government funded agency responsible for our environment. While their remit has some overlap with Defra, there is lots of good information and plans on this page about the current state of our water systems and how to improve them.

Thames21 – A charity organisation aimed at improving water quality within the river Thames. Despite this the information on their website is relevant nationally. They also run events and webinars frequently.

Channel 5, Swimming in Sewage – A documentary investigating sewage release into the rivers.

Channel 4, Britain’s water Scandal – A documentary looking at pollution within Britain’s rivers.

Channel 5, Sewer Men – A TV series following those who maintain the sewer and water systems in the UK and the common challenges faced by them. This series comes from a different perspective.
